They will look well after you and offer the right choice of
excursions and the “Elephant Village” which is rapidly
developing into a true nature park with elephants, crocodiles,
water buffalos, open-air bird and butterfly sanctuary and orchid
farm.
Taking
a day off from diving? How’s about sleeping in, relaxing on the
beach and in the afternoon explore and discover the closer
surroundings of Khao Lak with the Lamkean Adventure Tour?
Or a day of culture, visit the temples and caves of the province
or just nature at its best on Khao Sok’s “Cheow Lan Lake”.
The possibilities are so numerous and in easy reach like nowhere
else in southern Thailand.
Lamkean Adventure (half day tour)
Discover
the “other side” of Khao Lak. Starting from the Asia Safari
Elephant Village an exciting elephant ride through farmland,
forest and bamboo jungle leads uphill. On top of the hill have a
brake with Thai coffee and sweets and enjoy a fantastic view
over the valley of Lamkean & Tab Lamu.
Back to the village by elephant. How about a refreshing swim in
the pool of nearby Tong Pling waterfall, it’s just a 15 minute
walk.
Along
unpaved upcountry roads, passing small farms and rubber
plantations, it’s on to a small creek near Ban Lamru to our
rafting station. Quietly floating downstream on a bamboo raft we
experience nature at its best. The Lamkean Adventure ends with a
Thai lunch/diner in a nearby restaurant with a beautiful ocean
view.
Lamkaen Adventure is a half day excursion offered twice daily
including National park entry fee, elephant ride, rafting,
lunch/diner and soft drinks. Minimum of 2 bookings required.
Phang Nga Temple & Cave Tour
This
somehow different full day excursion leads through little
frequented upcountry roads to the temple ”Wat Tham Nakarat”,
known for its Buddha statues in limestone caves and crevices,
some of them can only be reached through stairs and ladders.
Further on to a temple full with colorful pagodas and stupas on
top of a hill with a breathtaking view over Phang Nga Bay.
Lunch at a restaurant in the mangroves of Pang Nga Bay, than on
to explore “Phung Chang Cave”. Only accessible by canoe and
bamboo raft, this impressive cave offers spectacular stalactites
and stalagmites.
With
a stop at ”Wat Suwan Ku” or Monkey Temple, home of hundreds of
monkeys waiting for peanuts and bananas we follow upcountry
roads to Thai Muang for a visit of the Sea Turtle breeding
center.
Our final stop on the way back to Khao Lak is Tong Pling
waterfall for a refreshing swim or only to relax.
The excursion is offered twice a week and includes entry fees
for temples and cave with canoeing, seafood lunch and
softdrinks.
Khao-Sok
“Cheow Lan Lake Expedition”
Spread
out over 780 square km, the Khao Sok National park is the
largest in southern Thailand and by far one of the most scenic
and spectacular. The ’Cheow Lan Lake’ is part of it.
Most of the organized tours end near the main entrance with
standard programs like elephant riding and river canoe. We go
further and visit the lake with its outstanding panorama.
The ride in one of the typical ’Longtail’ boats along the
densely overgrown limestone formations surrounding the lake to
the ranger station leaves a lasting impression.
From
there it’s an easy 60 minutes walk through the jungle to the
entrance of a cave. Equipped with torches and head-lamps,
following a trail crossing a submerged river leads into an
interesting caves with stalagmites and stalactites.
On the way back to Khao Lak we stop at the historical town of
Old Takuapa.
The excursion is offered twice a week and includes National park
entry fee, longtail-boat, lunch and softdrinks.
This
full day excursion shows Phuket from different sides. Following
a brief visit to ‘Khao Rang’, a small hill with a beautiful view
overlooking Phuket Town we stop at a cashew nut factory on the
way into the center where you will find almost everything you’re
looking for.
Chinese gold shops, boutiques, leather ware, shoes, clothing &
garments, sports wear & articles as well as the Robinson and
Ocean Plaza department stores offering a wide range of
international brand name articles at fair prices.
Next
we visit “Gems Gallery” Thailand’s largest gems factory. Watch
them produce beautiful jewelry. The factory is controlled by the
government run TAT (no touting, no bargaining, tax- and duty
free).
Then it’s on to the other side of Phuket, to Patong Beach, the
main tourist center of the island. Just sit down in one of the
café or pubs in Soi Bangla and watch. It’s better than the
movies.
Watch out when shopping !!! Rule of thumbs: offer 20% of the
asked price and agree at around 30 to 40% of the initial asked
price.
Phuket Shopping & Sightseeing is offered twice a week.
